Sources said that in order to complete the task of surprise combat readiness inspection, various types of ships of the Pacific Fleet have left the station and went to combat deployment sites in designated areas of the Sea of Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea. The Russian Pacific Fleet also dispatched a number of MIG-31 fighters to simulate intercepting enemy fighters in the air and firing air-to-air missiles at imaginary enemy targets. Two Il-38 and two Il-38H antisubmarine aircraft used radar and sonar equipment to search for underwater targets in designated sea areas, and antisubmarine aircraft also simulated the possible route of enemy submarines during the exercise.
