China submits relevant proposals on trade and environmental policies at the WTO

FIFA, 20 June (FIFA)-- the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO) made public the proposal submitted by China to the WTO Committee on Trade and Environment in Geneva on 19 June. Taking the carbon border adjustment mechanism recently adopted by the European Union as an example, China proposes to give better play to the supervision and review function of the WTO and conduct multilateral thematic discussions on environmental policies that have a significant impact on trade. The Chinese side's proposal points out that the current deepening integration of trade and environmental policies has a significant impact on trade, and that multilateral thematic discussions on relevant measures authorized by the 12th Ministerial Conference of the WTO will help strengthen the functions of the Committee on Trade and Environment, thus giving better play to the role of the WTO and promoting the contribution of the multilateral trading system to the United Nations agenda 2030 and its sustainable development goals.
