Xinhua News Agency, April 30, in order to better promote the development of green waterway transport, improve transport efficiency, optimize transport structure, and reduce logistics costs, from May 1, 2023 to April 30, 2026, Shandong has implemented a free preferential policy for container ships passing through all 12 locks in the Shandong section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal (including tributaries). The free scope includes: ships specially used for carrying containers (regardless of empty weight); for multi-purpose ships or collection and distribution vessels that carry containers and the number of containers reaches 50% or more of the approved container quantity specified in the ship's seaworthiness certificate (if the approved container quantity is not specified in the ship's seaworthiness certificate, it shall be determined as not less than 15 TEUs).
