Xi Jinping meets with US Secretary of State Lincoln

On the afternoon of June 19, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with US Secretary of State Lincoln in Beijing. Xi Jinping stressed that the world is developing and the times are changing. The world needs overall stable Sino-US relations, and whether China and the United States can get along correctly has a bearing on the future and destiny of mankind. The broad earth is full of room for China and the United States to develop and prosper together. The Chinese people, like the American people, are self-respecting, confident and strong people, and both have the right to pursue a better life. The common interests between the two countries should be valued, and their success is an opportunity rather than a threat to each other. At present, the international community is generally worried about the current situation of Sino-US relations, does not want to see conflict and confrontation between the two countries, is unwilling to take sides between China and the United States, and looks forward to peaceful coexistence and friendly cooperation between China and the United States. The two countries should take a responsible attitude towards history, the people and the world, properly handle Sino-US relations, contribute to global peace and development, and inject stability, certainty and constructiveness into a world intertwined with changes. Xi Jinping pointed out that competition among great powers is not in line with the trend of the times, still less can it solve the problems of the United States and the challenges facing the world. China respects the interests of the United States and will not challenge or replace the United States. Similarly, the United States should also respect China and not harm China's legitimate rights and interests. Neither side can shape the other according to its own will, let alone deprive the other side of the right to legitimate development. China always hopes that Sino-US relations can be healthy and stable, and believes that the two great powers can overcome all difficulties and find a correct way to live in mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation. It is hoped that the US side will adopt a rational and pragmatic attitude, face each other with the Chinese side, make joint efforts, adhere to the consensus reached at our meeting with President Biden in Bali, and put the relevant positive statements into action, so as to stabilize and improve Sino-US relations. Brynn conveyed President Biden's regards to President Xi Jinping, saying that President Biden believes that the United States and China have the responsibility and obligation to manage bilateral relations, which is in the interests of the United States, China, and the world. The United States is committed to returning to the agenda set by the Bali meeting between the heads of state of the two countries. The US side abides by the commitments made by President Biden, does not seek a "new cold war", does not seek to change China's system, does not seek to oppose China by strengthening alliances, does not support "Taiwan independence", and has no intention of conflict with China. We look forward to carrying out high-level exchanges with China, maintaining smooth communication, managing differences responsibly, and seeking dialogue, exchange and cooperation. Xi Jinping asked Lincoln to convey his regards to President Biden. Wang Yi, Qin Gang and others attended the meeting.
