FAP, April 29 (FAP)-California regulators voted on Friday to ban the sale of new diesel trucks by 2036 and require all trucks to achieve zero emissions by 2042. the decision puts California at the forefront in alleviating national exhaust pollution. The California Air Resources Commission (California Air Resources Board) unanimously approved the Advanced Clean Fleet rules (Advanced Clean fleet rule), the state's second zero-emission truck rule and the first in the world to require electric vehicles for new commercial trucks, including garbage trucks, cargo trucks, and other medium and heavy vehicles. Proponents of the rule say it will improve public health in marginalized communities that endure polluted air while mitigating the effects of climate change. It is estimated that this rule will bring 26.5 billion dollars in public health benefits to California and avoid health effects and deaths caused by diesel pollution. (CNBC)
