[Macau Municipal Office: if the discharge of nuclear contaminated water into the sea will suspend the application for food import in Japan's nine prefectures and districts], Ke Lan, acting chairman of the management committee of the Macao Municipal Office, said in an interview with the media on 13 June that Japan's plan to discharge Fukushima nuclear contaminated water into the sea is being closely followed, and the Macao Municipal Department is maintaining close contact with the General Administration of Customs and neighboring regions to follow up the latest developments. If Japan launches the discharge of nuclear contaminated water into the sea, the Municipal Services Department will immediately expand the scope of application for suspension of import to the nine highest-risk counties and districts in Japan, including aquatic products, vegetables and fruits in Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture, and do not rule out the further requirement that fresh food imported from other counties and districts must be accompanied by radiation testing certificates and be allowed to import only after passing the relevant inspection and quarantine measures.
