[Ford revamping German plant to produce new generation electric cars]-Ford opened the Cologne Electric vehicle Center in Germany, which will produce Ford's new generation of electric passenger cars for millions of European customers. Ford is reported to have revamped its plant in Cologne as part of its $2 billion investment. The 125ha plant is equipped with a new production line, battery assembly and state-of-the-art tools and automation equipment, with an annual production capacity of more than 250000 electric vehicles. Ford recently launched its fourth electric car in the world, the Explorer, which will be the first electric car to be produced in Cologne, after which the plant will produce an electric crossover. The Cologne Electric vehicle Center will be Ford's first carbon-neutral assembly plant in the world and supports the company's commitment to carbon neutralization in facilities, logistics and direct suppliers across Europe by 2035.
