[South Korean exports rose 1.2% in the first 10 days of June compared with the same period last year] according to Yonhap news agency, preliminary statistics released by the South Korean Customs Office (Customs) on June 12 show that South Korean exports in the first 10 days of June increased 1.2% year-on-year to 15.271 billion US dollars. The number of working days was 7 days, 0.5 days more than the same period last year, and the average daily export volume decreased by 6% compared with the same period last year. The Customs Office explained that the import and export data for the first 10 days of each month were short-term statistics and were vulnerable to changes in the number of working days. In the same period, imports fell 20.7 per cent year-on-year to US $16.681 billion. There was a trade deficit of $1.41 billion, which was smaller than in the first 10 days of May ($4.171 billion). The cumulative deficit so far this year has increased to 28.847 billion US dollars.
