General Electric is close to reaching an agreement with Hindustan Airlines to jointly manufacture fighter engines.

According to a report by US Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) on June 9, GE is having final discussions on strengthening its partnership with Hindustan Airlines (Hindustan Aeronautics) to jointly manufacture jet engines in the country. The deal is expected to be signed before or during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington later this month, which will enable Hindustan to use GE's F414 engine, according to two people familiar with the matter. The engines will be used in Indian fighter jets, people familiar with the matter said.
