According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, in the first five months, imports and exports of private enterprises totaled 8.86 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.1 percent, accounting for 52.8 percent of China's total foreign trade value, an increase of 3.9 percent over the same period last year. Of this total, exports totaled 6.09 trillion yuan, up 16.2 percent, accounting for 63.3 percent of the total export value, while imports totaled 2.77 trillion yuan, up 6.8 percent, accounting for 38.8 percent of the total import value. Imports and exports of state-owned enterprises totaled 2.76 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.7 percent, accounting for 16.4 percent of China's total foreign trade value. Of this total, exports totaled 760.45 billion yuan, up 8.8 percent, and imports totaled 2 trillion yuan, up 3.2 percent. In the same period, imports and exports of foreign-invested enterprises totaled 5.1 trillion yuan, down 7.6 percent, accounting for 30.4 percent of China's total foreign trade value. Of this total, exports totaled 2.75 trillion yuan, down 6.8 percent, while imports totaled 2.35 trillion yuan, down 8.5 percent.
