The strongest geomagnetic storm to date in solar cycle 25

FAP, April 25 (Xinhua)-- the Space Environment Forecast Center of the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences monitored a large magnetic storm on the earth from 17:00 on April 23 to 23:00 on April 24, Beijing time. This is also the strongest geomagnetic storm to date in the 25th solar cycle, under strong geomagnetic disturbance. Gorgeous auroras can be seen in middle and high latitudes such as Xinjiang, Mohe, Europe, North America and so on. Coronal mass ejection and coronal hole high-speed flow plasma clouds will hit the earth's magnetosphere, make the magnetosphere compress and deform, and inject energy into the magnetosphere, causing severe disturbance of the whole magnetosphere, this phenomenon is called geomagnetic storm.
