Xinhua News Agency, June 6, although the swallowing video capsule endoscope has been around for many years, but because doctors cannot actively control it, the capsule can only be passively moved by gravity and the natural movement of the human body. According to a pioneering study by the University of George Washington, doctors can remotely drive miniature magnetic capsules to the entire stomach to visualize and photograph potential problem areas. The technology uses an external magnet and a hand-held video game joystick to move the capsule in the stomach in three dimensions, closer to a traditional tubular endoscope. The study was recently published in iGIE, an open-access online journal of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
