The first compulsory national standard in the field of civil UAV in China has been officially released.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently organized and formulated the GB 42590-2023 "Safety requirements for Civil Unmanned aerial vehicle Systems" mandatory national standard approved and issued by the State Administration of Market Supervision (Standards Commission), and will come into effect on June 1, 2024. Safety requirements for Civil Unmanned aerial vehicle Systems apply to miniature, light and small unmanned aircraft other than aircraft models 17 mandatory requirements such as electronic fence, remote identification, emergency response, structural strength, body structure, aircraft drop, power energy system, controllability, error prevention, perception and avoidance, data link protection, electromagnetic compatibility, wind resistance, noise, lighting, marking and operating instructions are specified, and the corresponding test methods are put forward, which further improves the existing standard system of civil unmanned aerial vehicles. It can effectively guide the work related to the whole life cycle of civil unmanned aircraft, which is of great significance to promote the high-quality development of civil unmanned aircraft industry.
