[un Secretary General Guterres meets Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov] April 25, UN Secretary General Guterres met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. It is reported that the two sides discussed the situation in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria and other issues. The United Nations said that with regard to the agreement on the outward shipment of agricultural products from the Black Sea port, Guterres expressed concern about the recent obstacles encountered by the Joint Coordination Centre in its day-to-day operations. Guterres submitted a letter to Lavrov to Russian President Vladimir Putin outlining the direction aimed at improving, extending and expanding the agreement. It is understood that Guterres also sent similar letters to Ukraine and Turkey, the other two signatories to the agreement. In addition, Guterres communicated with Lavrov on the difficulties encountered in Russian grain and fertilizer exports and the implementation of the memorandum of understanding. Guterres elaborated on the progress made in this regard and reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations to continue its efforts to resolve the remaining issues.
