United Nations: nearly 48000 people have entered Ethiopia from Sudan since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan

[United Nations: nearly 48000 people have entered Ethiopia from Sudan since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan] according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, since the conflict broke out in Sudan in mid-April, nearly 48000 people have been recorded entering Ethiopia from Sudan. Of these, more than 36200 have entered illegally through the Mermah border crossing in Amhara State, Ethiopia, while more than 11000 have entered illegally through the border area of Bensangule-Gumaz State, mostly Ethiopians returning from the Sudan.
