Negotiations on cease-fire in Sudan suspended due to conflict

Xinhua News Agency, June 2, local time, Saudi Arabia and the United States, which mediate the conflict in Sudan and monitor the ceasefire, issued a joint statement suspending the ceasefire negotiations in Sudan in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The statement said that the Sudanese Armed Forces and rapid support forces have repeatedly seriously violated the temporary ceasefire agreement, undermined peace in Sudan, and hindered the resumption of humanitarian operations and public services in the conflict area of Sudan, so Saudi Arabia and the United States decided to suspend cease-fire negotiations. The statement also reminded the parties to the conflict in Sudan that they have an obligation to continue to implement the interim ceasefire agreement reached before. The statement also stressed that once the parties to the conflict in Sudan take measures to seriously implement the cease-fire agreement, cease-fire negotiations will resume.
