[WTO: global trade in goods is expected to improve in the second quarter of this year] the World Trade Organization (WTO) released a report on May 31 saying that global trade in goods remained depressed in the first quarter of 2023, and this situation is likely to improve in the second quarter. The latest issue of the barometer of Trade in goods released by the WTO shows that the climate index of global trade in goods is 95.6, below the benchmark of 100, but up slightly from 92.2 released in March this year. Among the component indices, the automotive product index is 110.8, which continues to be stable above the trend level; the export order index is 102.7, slightly higher than the trend level; and the raw material index is 99.0. In addition, the container transport index, air transport index and electronic components index continued to be weak, all below trend levels. According to the report, positive and negative indicators are mixed, which makes it more difficult to predict the short-term trade outlook.
