Standard optical fiber data transmission sets the fastest record

FIFA, June 1 (FAP)-- an international joint team has set a new record for industry-standard optical fiber transmission speed: 1.7 petabytes per second on 67 kilometers of optical fiber. The new optical fiber meets global standards, so it can be used without major infrastructure changes. At the same time, the latest method uses less digital processing, which greatly reduces the power required to transmit each byte of data.
