Baltic dry bulk Freight Index fell 38% on monthly Line

FAP, May 31 (Xinhua)-- the Baltic dry bulk Index fell for the first time in four months on Wednesday, as the freight index for all ship types weakened. The Baltic dry bulk index fell 146 points, or 13%, to 977 on Wednesday, its lowest level since Feb. 27 and down 38% this month. The capesize index fell 376 points, or 24%, to 1218, the biggest decline since Feb. 14, and fell 47.1% this month, the first monthly decline in four months. Average daily profit for capesize ships fell $3122 to $10099. The Panamanian shipping index fell 45 points to 1045, down 34.1% this month, the worst monthly performance since August last year. Average daily profit for Panamanian ships fell $406 to $9405. The index of super-handy bulk carriers fell 29 points, or 3.2%, to 881, the lowest since late February.
