Macquarie: the surplus in the nickel market will last until at least 2027.

FAP, May 31 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Macquarie analyst Jim Lennon said that with the rapid increase in Indonesian production, the global nickel market is expected to have a surplus every year until at least 2027. In recent years, due to Indonesia's rich nickel resources and the government's policy of encouraging domestic processing, the production of nickel used in the manufacture of stainless steel and electric car batteries has increased rapidly. The nickel market is likely to have a surplus of 142000 tonnes this year, up from 111000 tonnes in 2022, according to data provided by Lennon, with record growth in global supply last year, most of which came from Indonesia.
