Ministry of Commerce Wang Wentao met Japanese Minister of economy and Industry Yasuni Nishimura-- Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held talks with Japanese Minister of economy, Trade and Industry Yasuni Nishimura in Detroit, the United States, on 26 May while attending the 29th APEC Trade Ministers' meeting, and made solemn representations about Japan's insistence on introducing semiconductor export control measures and the G-7 Hiroshima summit to smear and attack China. Wang Wentao pointed out: ignoring China's strong opposition and the voices of the industry, Japan insists on introducing semiconductor export control measures, which seriously violates international economic and trade rules and seriously undermines the foundation of industrial development. The Chinese side is strongly dissatisfied with this and urges the Japanese side to correct its erroneous practices and effectively maintain the stability of the global industrial chain supply chain. In the joint statement, the Group of Seven manipulated China-related issues, issued so-called economic and security documents alluding to China, and interfered in China's internal affairs. China firmly opposes it and hopes that Japan will correct its understanding of China and truly promote the stable development of economic and trade relations between the two countries in a constructive manner. Wang Wentao said that China is willing to work with Japan to promote practical cooperation in key economic and trade areas, provide a fair, transparent and predictable business environment, and make positive contributions to building Sino-Japanese relations that meet the requirements of the new era. The two sides agreed to strengthen dialogue and exchanges on economic and trade issues of their respective concern.
