Statistics show that at the end of 2022, China's foreign securities investment assets (excluding reserve assets) reached 1.0335 trillion US dollars. Of this total, US $590.2 billion was invested in equity and US $443.3 billion in bonds. The top five countries with assets are Hong Kong, China, the United States, the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom, with investments of US $422.3 billion, US $217.7 billion, US $94.1 billion, US $72.1 billion and US $32.3 billion respectively. At the end of 2022, the sectors holding foreign securities assets in China were mainly non-bank financial institutions, banks and non-financial sectors, with investments of US $367.1 billion, US $342.7 billion and US $323.8 billion respectively, accounting for 36%, 33% and 31% of China's total foreign securities investment.
