(China is expected to become the world's largest automobile exporter Ministry of Commerce: three measures to escort Chinese cars out to sea] data show that China's automobile exports surpassed Japan for the first time in the first quarter of this year to become the world's largest automobile exporter. Shu Pingting, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, introduced China's automobile exports in the first quarter at a regular press conference on the 25th, and said that in the future, China's automobile exports will do a good job in transportation guarantee, financial services and overseas after-sales in three aspects. China exported 1.069 million cars in the first quarter of this year, up 54 per cent from a year earlier, according to the China passenger car Market Information Association. Japan exported 1.047 million cars in the same period. This means that in the first quarter of this year, China's car exports surpassed Japan, the largest car exporter, for the first time. The rapid growth of car exports has led the market to predict that China is expected to become the world's largest car exporter this year. In this regard, Shu Pingting said at a regular press conference on the 25th that China's automobile exports have improved steadily in recent years, and the product structure has been continuously optimized: first, the scale of trade has gradually expanded. The increase of automobile exports in 2021 and 2022 has been more than 1 million for two consecutive years. From January to April this year, China exported 1.494 million cars, an increase of 76.5 percent over the same period last year. Second, the market is becoming increasingly diverse. In the first four months, China exported cars to 204 countries and regions around the world, of which 13.64 billion US dollars were exported to countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route, an increase of 1.2 times, accounting for 45.9 percent of the total. Exports to developed economies totaled US $12.41 billion, an increase of 1.2 times, accounting for 41.83%. What is of particular concern is that in the first four months, the proportion of new energy vehicle exports in total exports increased to 42.9%, contributing 51.6% to the growth of automobile exports. China's automobile exports have shown a phased trend of rapid growth, but Shu Pingting also believes that there is still much room for improvement in the development of automobile exports in terms of quality and efficiency, and there are still some difficulties and problems in transportation security, financial services, overseas after-sales, and so on. Shu Pingting said that in the next step, the Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant departments, will focus on the following three areas: First, strengthen transport security, promote medium-and long-term strategic cooperation between automobile enterprises and shipping enterprises, encourage shipping companies to speed up the construction of ro-ro fleets and expand automobile export capacity; second, encourage automobile enterprises to cooperate with domestic and foreign financial institutions, under the premise of legal compliance and controllable risks, innovate financial products and services to better meet the needs of enterprises. The third is to support automobile enterprises to improve the international marketing and after-sales service system, enhance the ability to carry out brand publicity overseas, display sales after-sales service, and establish a good brand image.
