[Macao first quarter GDP rose 38.8 percent in real terms in the first quarter of Macao] according to data released by the Macao Special Administrative region Government's Statistics and Census Bureau on May 25, thanks to positive factors such as the relaxation of entry epidemic prevention measures, the full resumption of personnel exchanges between Hong Kong and Macao, and the resumption of mainland group tourism to Macao, GDP increased by 38.8 percent in real terms in the first quarter of 2023. Exports of services increased by 71.5% year-on-year. Domestic demand increased by 1.6% year-on-year, mainly driven by the final consumer expenditure of the SAR government.
