[Rio Tinto shipped 82.5 million tons of Pilbara iron ore in the first quarter of this year, up 16% from a year earlier] FAP, April 20, Rio Tinto announced production results for the first quarter of 2023. Of this total, Pilbara iron ore production was 79.3 million tons (100% equity basis), up 11% from the same period last year. Shipments of the Pilbara iron ore mine were 82.5 million tons (100% equity basis), up 16% from a year earlier and setting a new record for shipments in the first quarter. Bauxite production was 12.1 million tons, down 11% from the same period last year. Primary aluminium production was 785000 tons, up 7 per cent from a year earlier. Mineral copper production was 145000 tons (consolidated basis), the same as in the first quarter of 2022. The output of high titanium slag was 285000 tons, up 4% from the same period last year.
