[China Power Union: national manufacturing electricity consumption increased by 7.1% in April compared with the same period last year] the China Federation of Electric Power Enterprises released electricity consumption from January to April 2023 on May 16. From January to April, the electricity consumption of the whole society was 2.8103 trillion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 4.7 percent over the same period last year, of which the electricity consumption of the whole society in April was 690.1 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.3 percent over the same period last year. From January to April, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 35.2 billion kilowatt-hours, up 10.3 percent over the same period last year; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 1.8632 trillion kilowatt-hours, up 5.0 percent over the same period last year; the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 485.2 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.0 percent over the same period last year; and the domestic electricity consumption of urban and rural residents was 426.8 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 0.3 percent over the same period last year. In April, the national manufacturing industry consumed 368 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, an increase of 7.1 percent over the same period last year. The average daily electricity consumption of the manufacturing industry was 12.27 billion kilowatt hours per day, an increase of 850 million kilowatt hours per day over the same period last year and a decrease of 170 million kilowatt hours per day over the previous month.
