[EU's first joint tender for the purchase of 13.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas] the European Commission announced that in the organization's first tender for natural gas procurement, a total of 25 suppliers participated in the bidding, which can provide more than 13.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Of these, 8.7 billion cubic meters of pipeline natural gas and 2.2 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas have been purchased separately by EU enterprises previously registered with the European Commission. Next, the enterprises involved in the procurement can negotiate the terms of the supply contract directly with the supply company without the participation of the European Commission. The EU joint tender for natural gas procurement is held every two months, and the next round is expected to be launched in late June. In order to deal with the energy crisis caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the European Union has to adopt a joint tender to purchase natural gas in preparation for the winter of 2023-2024.
