On May 15, 2023, Wang Yi, member of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee, met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Sealdo in Beijing. Wang Yi praised Hungary for pursuing a friendly policy toward China, saying that this is in line with the interests of the Hungarian state and people, the common interests of China and Europe, and the development trend of the times. The development and growth of China is the growth of the power of peace and the enhancement of global stability. Hungary has always taken an objective and friendly view of China's development, and the two sides have mutual respect, mutual trust, mutual understanding and mutual support, pushing bilateral relations into the best period in history. Wang Yi pointed out that China supports Europe's strategic autonomy, and its return to the Cold War mentality and manufacturing group confrontation is not conducive to Europe's long-term development. China is willing to work with EU countries, including Hungary, to safeguard true multilateralism, promote the process of democratization of international relations, and promote the development of the global governance system in a more just and reasonable direction. Sealdo said that the strategic cooperative partnership between Hungary and China has been developing in depth and achieved positive results. Hungary appreciates China's efforts for a political solution to the crisis in Ukraine. Cooperation between Hungary and China and Europe and China is an opportunity, not a risk. The Hungarian side welcomes China's increased investment in Hungary and is willing to further enhance the level of cooperation with China in various fields and push bilateral relations to a new level.
