[China Iron and Steel Association: 11.3 million tons of steel social inventory in the first ten days of May fell 1.8 percent from the previous year] in early May, the social inventory of five major varieties of steel in 21 cities was 11.3 million tons, a decrease of 210000 tons, or 1.8 percent, compared with the same period last year. Inventories continued to decline slightly: an increase of 3.78 million tons, or 50.3 percent, over the beginning of the year; a decrease of 1.15 million tons, or 9.2 percent, over the same period last year.
