Xinhua News Agency, May 15, South Korea's Ministry of Science, Technology and Information Communications said on the 15th that South Korea's ICT exports fell 31.9 percent in April from a year earlier to US $12.77 billion. South Korea's ICT exports fell for 10 months in a row. Semiconductor exports fell 40.5% year-on-year to $6.48 billion, due to weaker demand for ICT devices and lower unit prices of memory chips. The reduction of memory chip export (54.1%) is larger than that of system chip (22.1%). Over the same period, display exports fell by 30.5% to $1.43 billion. Mobile phones and computers and peripherals were reduced by 41.6% and 66.7% respectively. Communications equipment fell 14.7 per cent to $200m, but exports to India surged 380.5 per cent to $20 million. This is due to India's expansion of equipment imports to build 5G infrastructure.
