[Qin Gang met with members of the Foreign and Defense Committee of the Norwegian Parliament] on May 12, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met collectively with members of the Foreign and Defense Affairs Committee of the Norwegian Parliament in Oslo. Qin Gang said: this is my first visit to Norway, which is aimed at enhancing mutual understanding, expanding consensus and promoting the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations. Sino-Norwegian cooperation in all fields has achieved fruitful results, which shows that cooperation conforms to the common interests of both sides and is also the common wish of people from all walks of life in the two countries. Chinese-style modernization is the modernization of harmonious symbiosis between man and nature, and climate change and green transformation can become new key areas of Sino-Norwegian cooperation. It is normal for China and Norway to have differences because of their different national conditions. The key is to maintain a rational and tolerant mentality, grasp the general direction that consensus is greater than differences and cooperation is better than confrontation, and conduct constructive dialogue and communication. The Norwegian side said that the Norwegian Parliament and the public are very interested in China, are concerned about China's development and its role in international and regional affairs, and appreciate China's influence in dealing with climate change. China is Norway's largest trading partner in Asia, and the two countries have a wide range of cooperation fields. Although there are differences on some issues, they have not and should not affect the dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.
