Unnamed officials talk about the meeting between Wang Yi and Sullivan

Xinhua News Agency, May 12, Wang Yi, member of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee, met with Sullivan, assistant to the US president for national security affairs, in Austria from 10 to 11 May. According to senior Chinese officials familiar with the situation, the two sides held many rounds of discussions on important issues, including Sino-US relations, the Taiwan issue, the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, and the crisis in Ukraine, for more than 10 hours. The meeting was frank, in-depth, substantive and constructive. The official revealed that the Chinese side also demands that the US side lift unreasonable restrictions and interference on Sino-US people-to-people exchanges and work with China to carry out more exchanges between people from all walks of life of the two countries and enhance mutual understanding between the people.
