According to data from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, in the first quarter of 2023, China had a current account surplus of 560.5 billion yuan, of which 889 billion yuan was in trade in goods, 321.8 billion yuan in services, 43.5 billion yuan in initial income and 36.9 billion yuan in secondary income. In the capital and financial accounts, the deficit in direct investment was 206.1 billion yuan, and reserve assets increased by 174 billion yuan. In terms of US dollars, in the first quarter of 2023, China's current account surplus was 82 billion US dollars, of which the trade surplus in goods was 129.9 billion US dollars, the deficit in service trade was 47 billion US dollars, the initial income deficit was 6.3 billion US dollars, and the secondary income surplus was 5.4 billion US dollars. In the capital and financial accounts, the deficit in direct investment was US $30.2 billion and reserve assets increased by US $25.5 billion.
