A reporter asked about the meeting between Wang Yi, member of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee, and Sullivan, assistant to the US president for national security affairs. In response, Wang Wenbin said that Wang Yi, member of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee, met with Sullivan, assistant to the US president for national security affairs, in Vienna, Austria, from May 10 to 11, local time. The two sides held frank, in-depth, substantive and constructive discussions on removing obstacles and stabilizing Sino-US relations. Wang Yi comprehensively expounded China's solemn position on the Taiwan issue. The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, Ukraine and other international and regional issues of common concern. The two sides agreed to continue to make good use of this strategic communication channel.
