European Central Bank governing Council Villeroy: there is only a short way to curb inflation by raising interest rates

FAP, May 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Villeroy, the governing board of the European Central Bank, said that the ECB has only a "very small" distance left in raising interest rates to fight inflation. He is more cautious than some other regulators when it comes to future monetary tightening. Villeroy pointed out that most of the necessary impact needed to curb consumer price growth will come from the 375 basis point rate hikes that have been implemented since last summer. "We have completed most of the process," he said. "there is very little left to be done."
