[Swiss government: the Russian central bank has about $8.3 billion of assets in Switzerland that are no longer available]. After the European Union introduced new reporting obligations as part of the latest sanctions against Russia, the Swiss government said, the Russian central bank has 7.4 billion Swiss francs ($8.3 billion) worth of assets in Switzerland. The 7.4 billion Swiss francs figure represents all the reserves and assets of the Russian central bank reported so far in Switzerland and that these funds are no longer available, the Swiss government said in a press release on May 10. The Swiss government said the assets should not be confused with assets worth 7.5 billion Swiss francs frozen in Switzerland, which belonged to Russian individuals or companies subject to sanctions.
