German Chancellor Schultz meets with Qin Gang

[German Chancellor Schultz meets with Qin Gang] on May 10, 2023, German Chancellor Schultz met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Berlin. Schultz asked Qin Gang to convey his sincere regards to Chinese leaders. Schultz said that he is looking forward to holding the seventh round of German-Chinese government consultations in Germany. This is an important consultation. As the host country, Germany is making active preparations and is willing to make joint efforts with China to ensure positive results. In the context of a multipolar world, we should adhere to the equality of all parties and jointly safeguard world peace. Germany attaches importance to China's role and influence and is willing to strengthen communication with China on the crisis in Ukraine and other major issues. Qin Gang conveyed the cordial greetings of Chinese leaders to Schultz. Qin Gang said that President Xi Jinping made the strategic judgment of "a great change not seen in a century" and Prime Minister Schultz proposed a "turning point of the global era," and the two coincided. In the face of a world intertwined with changes, the international community should strengthen cooperation and join hands to meet challenges. The main purpose of my visit to Germany is to prepare for the seventh round of consultations between the governments of the two countries. As influential countries and omni-directional strategic partners, strengthening dialogue and cooperation between China and Germany will help inject more stability, certainty and positive energy into the world. China looks forward to working with Germany to promote fruitful results of the consultations. Qin Gang said: on the Ukraine issue, China's position is to persuade peace and promote talks. The delay in war will only cause more suffering, so we should cease fire and stop the war as soon as possible, achieve a political solution through dialogue, and find a way to achieve long-term stability in Europe. During the visit, Qin Gang also met with Prutner, foreign affairs adviser to the German Chancellor, and held talks with German Foreign Minister Berber.
