According to a report by the Financial Times on May 9, Activision Blizzard has hired Lord Lord David Pannick KC, a heavyweight legal figure, to lead the company against the British competition regulator's decision to block it from reaching a $75 billion deal with Microsoft. Pannick's recent cases include Boris Johnson's "party door" investigation. Mr Panick of Blackstone will file a lawsuit in the UK Competition Court on behalf of the call of Duty game developer, according to people familiar with the matter. On April 26th, the British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) refused to approve Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The agency believes that Microsoft will be commercially motivated to offer Activision Blizzard games only in Microsoft's own cloud game service.
