[foreign Ministry spokesman declares a diplomat of the Canadian Consulate General in Shanghai as an "unwelcome person")-- according to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 9 May, the Canadian government announced that a diplomat from the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto would be listed as an "unwelcome person." The Chinese side strongly condemns and firmly opposes this, and has made solemn representations and strong protests to Canada. In response to Canada's unreasonable acts, the Chinese side decided to take reciprocal counter-measures, including Consul Zhen Yihui of the Canadian Consulate General in Shanghai as an "unwelcome person" and asked her to leave China before May 13. The Chinese side reserves the right to make further responses.
