Artificial neurons as thin as atoms are available

FAP, May 9 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- A team of researchers from the University of Oxford, the IBM Institute of Europe and the University of Texas in the United States announced an important achievement: by stacking two-dimensional (2D) materials, they developed an artificial neuron the thickness of which is only a few atoms, which can process light and electrical signals for calculation, and is expected to be used in the next generation of artificial intelligence computing. It also helps scientists to better simulate and understand the human brain. The relevant research results are published in the latest issue of Nature Nanotechnology.
