Stellantis invests American start-up Liteng to develop lithium-sulfur battery

(FAP) Stellantis invests in US start-up Lyten to develop lithium-sulfur batteries. European automaker Stellantis Group announced on May 25 that it has invested in American start-up battery materials company Liteng (Liteng) through its venture capital division to promote the development of lithium-sulfur electric vehicle batteries, lightweight composites and vehicle sensing solutions. Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, Lithium-sulfur batteries developed by Liteng do not use nickel, cobalt or manganese, making the carbon footprint 60% lower than current batteries, the two companies said in a statement. In addition, raw materials for lithium-sulfur batteries may be purchased and produced locally in North America or Europe.
